The person behind ElderFlower Doula is Sarah Alicia Elder. This mother of four, can’t stay still and her love for learning has opened up many different career paths. Her sense of community has led her to different fields within human services. Now, Sarah is putting it all together to help families in New Westminster. She is a birth doula offering support and resources for pre-pregnancy to postpartum and everything in-between. Sarah can help make your parenthood journey a memorable experience with unique artistic souvenirs. With specialized training in breastfeeding, difficult births and loss, Sarah provides an all-encompassing perinatal doula service.
I am a supporter of the LGBTQIA2S+ community and understand the importance of using the correct language for each individual and how it plays when it comes to birth. On my page in the past I have tried to be as inclusive as possible, some language has since been changed back because of recent subjects being discussed. I do not use the term chestfeeding only because all humans are born with breast tissue and I do strongly believe it’s already a inclusive term. I do use the term birthing person but also mother. Birthing person is used because it includes not only those who do not identify as a mother or female but for surrogacy and adoption. Mother is also used often because I identify as a mother and do not wish to personally be called a birthing person. I go by the pronouns she/her.
Partnered up with local doula Nikki of Royal City Birth. She is my first on-call for back up and we work close together helping to create easier access to education, tools and support in our community. We work individually but support eachother by covering vacation times, when we are sick and family emergencies. If you wouWe offer some unique services that differ from eachother but our over all philosophies and support when it comes to birth is very similar.
